Peter had been trying to get his courage up for this particular evening for at least two weeks, longer than that if he's honest with himself. He's decided it required a real night out away from the house so the rooftop, where he and Charlie usually spent time, was out. The cafe down the street was out as well. It was getting a little cold for Central Park, which had been his first thought. He'd briefly considered the top of the Empire State Building, but he took her to the tops of buildings all the time. He wanted something different and memorable. Finally, he sent her a text with an address, told her to dress in something comfortable but nice. He'd meet her there.

When she showed up he was there at the front door with a pair of jeans on, a white button down and a dark jacket. He was wearing his converse, bouncing on his toes as he waited for her. The address he'd sent her to happened to be this.

Charlie had nothing to run from. Not anymore. She thought she had everything to stay for. This was the closest Charlie had to a family since Irv and Norma and the best part was, they could all keep her safe.
It's a welcome change and she wasn't letting go of it soon.

"Peter?" Her curiosity had gotten the best of her after a few minutes of silence. "Are you okay?"

"Oh. I guess Barton and I missed a few when we raided the fridge for archery targets." As much as she sounds like she's joking, she and Barton have been known to fire off a few arrows, lit and otherwise, at full cans of Red Bull and Monster and Rockstar and whatever other energy drinks there were in the house.

"This is a different kind of crazy, though." See how well she knows you, Peter?

Then it's probably a bad thing that Charlie feels guilty after and replaces a few of the cans, huh? But she totally understood the sleepless nights thing, though she was usually more likely to reach for a hot tea or something on the way to school. Energy drinks just did not taste right. Give her an Earl Grey with honey any day.

She listens, paying attention to his tone of voice and his words. He's nervous, That much is obvious. It takes her a minute to realize what he's asking and she can't help the smile that crosses her features.

"Yeah. Yeah, I do. A lot." Please continue, Peter. She has a hunch where this was going. And speaking of going, the tour group's tour guide has appeared and is speaking to everyone but Charlie only has eyes and ears for Peter, giving him her full attention.

They'll have to make a routine of having tea at night. She finds it works both ways for her. Caffeine to wake her up in the morning and the association of something pleasant and relaxing to help her destress from her day. Mostly it's the memories of Norma giving her tea if she was sick in any way whether it be a cold or a stomach virus.

Charlie senses how nervous he is and leans against him just slightly, meaning it as a reassuring gesture. That and she's walking into somewhere dark so knowing he's there is a comfort to her as well.

"Yeah?" He can't see it, but there's a smile on her face and in her tone when she speaks. "You're definitely my favorite person to spend time with." Her thumb runs over his just a bit before she lets go of his hand and her arm slides around his waist. "Now, be honest, Peter. Why are you so nervous? I didn't do anything, did I?"

That's a joke. Mostly...about 70 percent a joke.

Did everything? Wait. What was he talking about? Thank God it was dark because Charlie's facial expression was nothing short of confusion. She wasn't entirely sure how to handle this at first. But then he began stuttering and she found herself paying more attention to what he was saying.

And then she smiled at his question. It was a surprising question, honestly. She was sure she was hearing things so her answer was a bit hesitant, despite her efforts for it to not be.

"I'd like that, Peter. I'd like that a lot."

"Yeah. Yeah, it will be." She was ecstatic, honestly. Practically bouncing in her own way, which wasn't much. She was still learning how to successfully show big emotions without setting big things on fire.

"You realize that Barton will probably be even more obnoxious than usual, right?" Meaning he will find ways to worm in between them at any opportunity and not just on movie nights in the building.

"He'll get creative with it. I just know it. Spell it out with whatever Alphabits he doesn't use in his very, very gross O'Douls and cereal concoction." She's guessing, anyway.

"Actually, I take that back. Barton's probably the type to try to sneak up on you and say it. Probably text it to you dozens of times."

Charlie continued walking with Peter, laughing slightly. "You'll wake up and it'll be on your mirror. He'll get your phone in his hands and his name in it will suddenly be 'Told you so'."

It will be amusing. "And Pepper's going to have fun with it, too."

Charlie might have to sit in on this training mission. It sounds highly amusing.

"It all sounds worth it, honestly. All the teasing and looks we're going to get?" She's beyond okay with all of it. She's looking forward to some of it, honestly.

"And...this'll probably get Molly from school to leave you alone." Which Charlie is looking forward to in a huge way.
